The 2015 DeMarini Voodoo Overlord FT BBCOR is a redesigned version of the Voodoo Overlord. However, this isn’t just a simple redesign as it also comes with several new features that make it the ideal baseball bat for power hitters.
While the bat is still new and just been released, it’s already received a lot of positive feedback from the early few that have purchased and tried it.
Specifications
- Certification: BBCOR
- Handle type: composite
- Barrel material: aluminum
- Barrel diameter: 2 5/8″
Features of the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo Overlord FT BBCOR
The DeMarini Voodoo Overlord has a number of interesting and useful features. Not the least being its -3 length to weight ratio. The length to weight ratio is something that other manufacturers don’t usually pay attention to.
However it makes a lot of difference in terms of making the bat more powerful and easier to use.
This extends to the barrel diameter, which is at 2 5/8 inches, is just right for making that big swing.

For many players though the most important feature here is the D-Fusion handle technology as it completely eliminates vibration.
One of the problems with baseball bats, even the better ones, is the amount of vibration they generate when you hit.
As any hitter can tell you, the vibration is very uncomfortable and makes hitting difficult. However, DeMarini took care of that here and the D-Fusion technology works very well.
What About The Style Though?
Style wise the bat doesn’t look too bad either. It has a nice glossy red finish, silver decoration and black handles complementing each other well.
When it comes to baseball bats, sweet spots are absolutely necessary, and the bigger the better.
However, other baseball bats just don’t provide much of a sweet spot. This leaves you with very few options and making accurate hits difficult.
The Demarini Voodoo Overlord -3 is a notable exception. However as its sweet spot is large and forgiving without sacrificing quality and comfort.
Based on the initial reviews for the product, this is one of the most promising features of the bat and really lives up to the hype.
The bat also uses RCK KNOB technology so it fits perfectly in your hand.
Again, this is one of those features that other baseball bats often neglect. It’s very important because a bat that doesn’t fit in your hands properly is going to be very uncomfortable.
With the RCK KNOB however, you can hold the bat for extended periods without feeling uncomfortable or weary, very important if you play a lot.
That’s always been one of the main concerns with cheaper bats, but Overlord is anything but.

Usability of the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo Overlord FT BBCOR
All those fancy features won’t mean anything if the bat is difficult to use. Fortunately the Overlord combines ease of use with power. The bat isn’t heavy on the hands and won’t wear you down at all.
When you grasp the bat, you’ll notice how different it feels compared to other bats. It’s not just the D-Fusion Handle technology at work here but also the length to weight ratio.
Taking a few swings with the bat will demonstrate its hitting power, and the pop is way bigger compared to other bats in its class.
Even if you don’t hit the ball square, the response from the bat is very strong and you’ll like as not hit it hard. And you’ll also notice that the grip won’t wear you down even if you keep swinging and hitting.
If you have tried various baseball bats, you’ll also notice that the design isn’t that good and worse, the barrel seems brittle.
That’s not a problem with the Overlord though as the aluminum alloy is very solid, and in terms of appearance the Overlord looks very sharp and the redesign is nicely done.
How Does It Compare To Last Years Model?
There are similarities to the 2014 model yes, but there are a lot of differences as well. In simple terms, the Overlord is much more powerful bat.
The 2015 Overlord is not an ordinary bat, as it is expressly built for power users, and this is where the aforementioned X12 alloy makes a big difference at it uses various alloy agents to produce optimum power even at thin points.
The X12 moreover, doesn’t work alone because it is integrated well with the D-fusion handle so you remain comfortable while taking those big swings.
And because there’s vibration, you can swing with maximum power.
Pros
- Large sweet spot
- Increases power
- Comfortable to hold
- No vibration
- 12 month warranty
Cons
- The bat is still new so it isn’t widely available yet
- The bat can be loud quite loud when you hit hard
What Customers Say
As noted above, the Voodoo Overlord BBCOR certified baseball bat is new and has just been released.
However, the initial feedback is very good, and one reviewer said that the Voodoo is much better than the 2014 version and really has a larger sweet spot. Another reviewer pointed out that the bat has a lot of pop and feels very comfortable when held.
The sentiment is shared by most of the people who have purchased the bat. The reviewers would pick different parts of the Voodoo they like such as the grip, the sweet spot, or the design.
But the one feature that’s received a lot of praise is the D-Fusion Handle technology, as it has done away with vibration.
Conclusion
The 2015 DeMarini Voodoo Overlord FT BBCOR is one of the best baseball bats to come out in years, period.
If you have the 2014 version, this is definitely worth the upgrade as it is more comfortable, powerful and easier to swing.
Because of the way the Overlord has been engineered, you get power, precision and comfort, stuff that are usually hard to find in other bats.
