The 2015 Easton Mako youth baseball bat was released on September 5, 2014, and this youth bat is now in the hands of thousands upon thousands of players, and the feedback from those who’ve gotten it are very positive.
If you’re among those wondering if it’s worth purchasing the bat or not, this review can serve as your guide.
Features of the 2015 Easton Mako Youth Baseball Bat
The Mako has a very stylish appearance, but there’s more to it than just a sleek, clean design.
What really makes the Mako different from the rest is the technology that has been used to manufacture it.

As anyone who’s used a baseball bat before can tell you, it’s the sweet spot and the speed that make the difference between hitting the ball and striking out.
One of the problems with the bats available today is they either lack speed or has a small sweet spot.
The truth is you can’t have one without the other as your hitting ability will suffer.
For that reason alone the 2015 Easton Mako YB15MK is worth a look.
But there’s more, like the CXN Patented two-piece Conation technology, which transfers energy in the most efficient manner possible.
If you have ever swung a baseball bat before, you’ll come to the realization that energy transfer is one of the keys to becoming a successful hitter, but often it’s not properly implemented.
Easton seems to be fully aware of this problem and had it fixed here.
Apart from state of the art technologies, the Mako has a 29/32″ composite handle, and its thinness is another advantage.
When you grip the bat it doesn’t feel heavy, which is critical if you’re going to play a full game.
Careful attention has also been given to the barrel diameter, which at 2 1/4″ is just right.
Basically what its feature set means is that the Mako is built for faster swings and low M.O.I.
A Closer Look at the Mako Design and Construction
At the surface all baseball bats may look the same, but the Mako is different. By simply holding the bat you’ll notice that it feels different, and that it’s lighter.
If you’ve spent any time playing baseball, you know how physically demanding it can be to hold and swing that bat.
For this reason, the lightweight design of the Mako makes a lot of sense.
What Eaton has done with the YB15MK is to combine the features of their XL and S1 so you get the best of both worlds.
So what you get here is a bat that has the barrel power of the XL and a speed that surpasses the one produced by the S1.
Basically these all translates to extra power minus the hand and wrist strain.
Another advantage offered by the Thermo Composite technology is that it allows for a longer barrel.
With a longer barrel you get a bigger sweet spot and reduced M.O.I. so you can make a faster and more accurate swing.
2015 Easton Mako Youth Baseball Bat Design
But there’s more to it than that as the design also reduces the vibrations on your hand. Those vibrations usually happen when you hit one off the bat or get jammed, but that won’t happen here thanks to the unique design.
And it’s also this design that allows you to take the ball down into the gaps and the down the line.
The ultra-thin handle also comes into play as well as the diamond grip, so even if you don’t swing bats regularly, it will feel comfortable in your hands.
You don’t need to know the exact numbers to benefit from the Mako, but the specs, particularly its length to weight ratio and barrel diameter, shows how much attention Eaton paid to the details.
Pros
Given the feature set it’s hardly surprising that there are numerous pre-orders. Apart from those features, the following are also worth noting.
- The bat improves your hitting
- It is very comfortable to hold
- You can swing much more quickly
- Very durable
- The unique design ensures no energy is wasted when you swing
- Hitting is very smooth
- 12 month warranty
There are a few other things that should be pointed out here. First, the two-piece construction is very solid and it will give you the edge over the competition.
Second, the TCT technology used for the bat is aimed directly at baseball players who need power, and the Mako also uses Eaton’s ConneXion Technology for superior performance.
Cons
No baseball bat is perfect, and as good as the 2015 Easton MAKO Composite Youth Bat: YB15MK is, there are a couple of issues, though they aren’t big.
- It’s a bit more expensive than other baseball bats
- The ultra-thin grip will take getting used to particularly if you’ve accustomed to a thicker, heavier bat.
Those two minor issues aside, there’s really not much to complain about as the Mako as it is well-designed.
Conclusion About the 2015 Easton Mako youth baseball Bat
As this Easton Mako Youth Bat review shows, this is an outstanding product that can literally change the way you play the game.
While it’s slightly more expensive than other bats, it’s well worth the purchase due to the innovative and helpful features. Particularly helpful is the streamlined barrel design as it maximizes your hitting without wearing you out.
The nice thing about the Mako though, is that you get the additional power without adding weight.
In short, the Mako baseball bat is big and fast, providing you with plenty of power and speed without compromise.
The best way to describe the bat is that when you swing, it heads straight into the hitting zone quickly.
Thanks to the oversized barrel and sweet spot, you hit the ball with more bat and greater force.

This 2015 Easton Mako youth baseball bat sounds so sweet!! I like that there’s TCT Thermo Composite Technology; the benefits are unreal. I know it costs a wee bit more but I think its well worth the price.

Lesley – The Mako bats are well worth the price. Their 2015 lineup is spectacular no matter if it’s this youth bat or their BBCOR bats.
